Name Changes

Proposing a Name Change
Requests for name changes must be made in writing to the Mayor.  Per Council Resolution #30525, the Mayor may request the Landmarks Preservation Commission to review proposed name changes.

Upon receiving a request, the Commission holds a public hearing to receive comments, and makes a recommendation to City Council.  The entire process usually takes about 3 months.
