Overview
Art at Work: Tacoma Arts Month 2009
The goal of Art at Work: Tacoma Arts Month, taking place each November, is to illustrate the collective talent in our city and get people
involved in the arts. The month is not just for artists...it is an
opportunity for all community members to be an active part of Tacoma's
cultural life. Tacoma is ripe with activity and offers a multitude of
events. There really is something for everyone.
Planning for Art at Work: Tacoma Arts Month 2009 is under way. The
Tacoma Arts Commission is currently seeking applications from artists

Please mark these events and dates on your calendar:

Art at Work: Tacoma Arts Month 2008
November 2008 marked the 7th anniversary of Art at Work: Tacoma Arts
Month in
Tacoma. As part of the festivities, the Tacoma Arts Commission hosted
its third annual Art at Work: Tacoma Arts Month Opening Celebration at the Tacoma Art
Museum, a two-day tour of artists' studios, an Art Slam at the Rialto
Theater, and a two-day Arts Symposium. Along with these events, a
multitude of individuals, businesses, and organizations hosted hundreds
of community organized arts events. And it all happened in 30 days!
While Art at Work: Tacoma Arts Month 2008 is over, you can still see what took
place by downloading the entire 2008
Art at Work month brochure (9 MB PDF). It contains all sorts of
useful information including listings of classes and workshops and an
index of galleries and museums.

Broadsides - See Here : Hear Say
See Here : Hear Say was a collaboration between six local poets and
seven local letterpress artists. These artists produced a series of
seven unique broadsides in celebration of Art at Work: Tacoma Arts Month
for November 2008. Click here to see
the broadsides and artists involved in this project.
